Over 50 years ago John Gorman received his first Manchester Terrier. Living in a small apartment in New York City, Manchester Terriers were easy to take care of and a pleasure to live with. Since then his adoration and devotion to the breed has been passed down throughout his entire family, in particular his daughter Shannon who participates in junior handling with her Manchester. For years the breed was dominated by one breeder in California and as a result, about 15 years ago, our family imported a male from England to outcross the blood lines and help create healthier animals. In doing so, Blackhawke Kennels established our own line of Manchester Terriers. With the help of our imported male, Keyline Venture Man whose father was considered the top Manchester in England at the time, we were able to establish a Manchester unlike all the rest: refined bone, correct toplines, unforgettable movement, and stunning head pieces. Today, more than 50 years later, the Gorman family is still dedicated to the improvement of the Manchester Terrier breed.
